The logos that I chose were the American Eagle logo and the Mizuno logo. I encounter these images almost everyday. I typically wear American Eagle clothing and for volleyball we wear Mizuno gear. On of the logos is an object because it is an eagle and the other is an abstarct because it looks like a weird swoosh. The creators of these logos made these logos look appealing to the consumer and make them so they go with the name of the company.
People wear these kinds of logos because they are a popular brand. Essentailly people use clothing as a way to show off their idenity how others see them. Jocks will wear nike while "preppy" people will wear Express or Banana Republic. Logos can also be seen as as a fashion statment or show status by how expensive an outfit is or how "trendy" it is.
I'm not sure that I see these images daily. I've never even heard of mizuno. I will say that I see american eagle more frequently than the other. Many of american eagles clothing doesn't have there name spread accross the shirts or pants like for advertisement like some other brands, like aeropostale. American eagle is extremely expensive so many college kids can't afford to purchase clothing from that store. You didn't mention anything about where you see these logos besides you wearing the clothing. You also never mentioned in your blog about where the company deploys these logos and why. Besides that I think your right about who wears what kind of clothing and how they can be seen.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of both or your logos. You don't really see too much advertising for either of these brands though. Not on tv that is. I agree with you that people where certain brands to show off their style or attitude. People who are sporty or as you put it a "jock" tend to wear the sporting clothes.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the Mixuno logo but I have seen the American Eagle logo before, but it's not really advertise that much. Only time I seen it, is either at the mall or when I'm flipping through a magazine of some kind. If I was into sports then, I might of have heard about the Mizuno but since I'm not....I don't even know where the products are sold. American Eagle can be a bit expensive to some but you don't have to save to buy clothing from there. And Sarah that's really all college students wear, so I don't see why you said it extremely expensive!
