Reading Blog 5

The logos that I chose were the American Eagle logo and the Mizuno logo. I encounter these images almost everyday. I typically wear American Eagle clothing and for volleyball we wear Mizuno gear. On of the logos is an object because it is an eagle and the other is an abstarct because it looks like a weird swoosh. The creators of these logos made these logos look appealing to the consumer and make them so they go with the name of the company.

People wear these kinds of logos because they are a popular brand. Essentailly people use clothing as a way to show off their idenity how others see them. Jocks will wear nike while "preppy" people will wear Express or Banana Republic. Logos can also be seen as as a fashion statment or show status by how expensive an outfit is or how "trendy" it is.

Reseach Blog 7

The power structure between the creator of a certain site and the people that view the site should be a strong one. It is the administrators job to make the site informational yet give it a side of entertainment. The site needs to be eye catching and easy to operate so the view doesn't get confused or believe that viewing the site is a waste of time. The content of a site should be organized in a way that is easy, which may include pictures, tabs or links. When it comes to sites participants don't really get banned due to the fact they didn't create the site and have no say in how it is made. They may be able to communicate with the administrator but that communication can be cut off at any time. Most content is top down because it is the easiest way to understand. I know this because I go on sites regularly and they all have the same format, they are top down easy to access and straight forward. So as a viewer I am drawn back due to the simplicity.

Reseach Blog 6

When it comes to the format of a website there are aspects that the cohort looks at and what the new viewer looks at. When someone that is initially in the subculture looks at the website they look for thing that interest them and are supposed to be on the website. They are looking for the websites details rather then the flashy stuff. They are already drawn into the website, they don't need the pretty stuff to say but rather then information.

While on the contrary people who are curious are looking at the pictures and are being drawn in by the colors and eye catching detail. These people are newbies they are unsure what the website is about and are looking for entertainment and interesting things rather then the information.

Reading Blog #4

Locate a company website that you really think "nails" you as a consumer. Using Chapter 4 as your guide (i.e. market segmentation, lifestyle, packaging...), analyze that website to see HOW it caters to YOU-AS-TARGET. It must be two full paragraphs and link the site.


The website that "nails" me as a consumer would be the Shi website which is a website that sells shoes and purses. This website is full of pictures of purses and shoes it has many different varieties and can be navigated through different tabs, which makes the website easier to be viewed. When looking for either shoes or purses the website gives the consumer options of other items they may be interested in due to the previous selection. Which is very useful.

The more eye appealing a website is the more the website is viewed by the consumer. Why would a consumer look at a boring website? Also the easier the website is to navigate the more appealing it i due to it simplicity.

Blog on Chaper 3

When it comes to the idea of news networks and if the viewer chooses to watch either the Daily Show or the Colbert Report. I choose the Daily Show because I think it is the least bias. The other show is more of show that gives the news in a way that is entertaining reather then in an inforamtional formate. Viewers choose thier news sites by what they enjoy to watch and how they like to be entertained and learn information .

Research Project #5

For my research project I am doing the subculture Guidos and Guidettes. When looking for websites I was skeptical if there would be any good websites that would have enough information for this project. The websites that I am using are the ones listed below and MTV website that has information on the TV show Jersey Shore. When looking at these websites I was Frost drawn to the pictures that were posted and the 'Rules" to become a Guido.  The website is very colorful which makes the viewer's eyes get drawn in. These websites had a legitimate amount of information, but I will also be using the TV show Jersey Shore as a source.
