Hegemony
1. Hegemony has many different definitions the first describes that of a leader, for example a captain for a team. The captain of a team has control over what happens on the court for example the captain of a volleyball team. This person decides which plays are run, and who will essentially get the ball.
2. Another definition is the expansion or the takeover of a small nation by a larger nation. For example when Prussia extended over north German states after 1871. This larger nation took control over the smaller nation.
3. The final definition of hegemony is when a company or business expands throughout the world. An example of that is the expansion of fast food restaurants such as KFC or Burger King.

Reseach # 3 & # 4
When I was looking for a subculture I looked for things I was interested in. From the beginning I goggled for subcultures and found generic ones that everyone would have. But then I thought about random ones and came up with some new ideas. I expected to find ones that everyone knew about and decided between either Guidos and Guidettes or Losties because both of these groups interest me. I chose this because I love the TV show Jersey Shore on MTV and Lost .
I expect the discover a lot of fan sites and forums talking about these groups. The information I know about these groups is what I learned thought their TV shows. When researching these two groups I plan on finding a lot of information on both of these groups. And choosing the one that has the best information. The only issues that may happen is that I can't find information or that no one know what I am talking about.

Reading: Mass Culture
Technology is everywhere and Mass Culture is dependent on it. From childhood children are introduced to technology beginning with the toys they played with to the TV shows they watched. When it comes to Mass Culture, technology is the main use of distribution of messages because they reach the most consumers which in turn provides the highest profit. The main form of technology that displays messages to the most number of people is the television. Now a days people are being drawn to the TV and have somewhat become a slave, with millions of commercials playing daily on all channels its understandable that people are getting most of their ideas and thoughts from TV shows. Whatever message is shown is encrypted in the viewers mind and essentially making people mindless. For example when a new trend or toy is out on the market everyone wants it, the TV is causing people to become like everyone else. Individuality is gone and going with what everyone else is doing is in.
Reading: Multinational Corporation
Factories, restaurants and stores are becoming international. They are spreading from their original place of origin to countries around the world. As more and more companies spread throughout the world more companies are becoming a house hold name. For example Nike, McDonald's and IHOP. This spread of corporations throughout the world is making everyone more connected.
