Hegemony
1. Hegemony has many different definitions the first describes that of a leader, for example a captain for a team. The captain of a team has control over what happens on the court for example the captain of a volleyball team. This person decides which plays are run, and who will essentially get the ball.
2. Another definition is the expansion or the takeover of a small nation by a larger nation. For example when Prussia extended over north German states after 1871. This larger nation took control over the smaller nation.
3. The final definition of hegemony is when a company or business expands throughout the world. An example of that is the expansion of fast food restaurants such as KFC or Burger King.

You have very good and clear points that you are making. I totally agree with the volleyball picture and comment good one! The second picture and comment shouls have been a little more developed for example how did prussia take over? Also the last one was a good example could have went more in depth. overall i really like how u broke it down and showed the three different definitions of hegemony i only focused on the whole dominance and power part of the definition so it was good to see the other parts!
ReplyDeleteI think you made very good use of the deffinition. The vollyball picture does work, the caption of the team could possilbe be like a president, or king of a nation. I like the last picture becuase BK is my fav fast food place but fast food restaurants are expanding all over the nation. there is not a country in the world that does not have a fast food restauratne in it.
ReplyDeleteLoL...referring to your example of Prussia taking over smaller nations, do you feel the United States has hegemonic ways with nations such as Iraq? Iran? Afghanistan?
